ABOUT
US
We are the Filipino Youth Apostolate from
the Archdiocese of New York. The FYA is made up of Filipino
youth and young adults from different parishes throughout
New York dedicated to the mission of evangelization. In
collaboration with parish groups and other youth ministries,
we hold recollections and retreats throughout the year and
assist in Filipino masses in various parishes. Our pride
and joy is our choir.
MISSION
STATEMENT
The mission and goals of the Filipino Youth Apostolate of
the Archdiocese of New York (FYA) are based on the commandment
of our Lord Jesus to love God and to love our neighbor.
(cf. Luke 10:27).
Based on these principles, our Mission and Apostolate
are summarized:
The First is to promote spiritual growth and strengthen
our personal relationship with God. The Second is to spread
the teachings of Jesus to other young people through our
ministries.
We take our Blessed Virgin Mother, under the title of
our Mother of Perpetual Help, as our Model and Protectress.
We ask her guidance in accomplishing our work and goals
in the Church.
We have a special dedication and gratitude to His Holiness,
Pope John Paul II, in inspiring the youths of the world
to be the saints of the new millennium. Finally, we thank
our late archbishop, John Cardinal O'Connor for establishing
the Filipino Apostolate.
