1998

In 1998, The Year of the Holy Spirit, the music ministry of the FYA was formally established. The FYA organized several youth liturgies in various parishes and participated in the Filipino Mass at SUNY Stony Brook in December. The FYA's greatest accomplishment took place on October 3, 1998, the Evangelization Youth Rally at St. Joseph Seminary in Dunwoodie. Michelle Rosario and Lallee Junio were members of the teen committee that helped organize this event. During the Youth Rally, Michelle gave a reflection on prayer to open the day. This was followed by the Morning Prayer service, which had been put together by the FYA. The FYA choir provided the music for Morning Prayer, invoking the Holy Spirit to enter the hearts of the 5,000 young people who had gathered at the seminary to celebrate their Catholic faith. Several members of the FYA also participated in the closing liturgy, celebrated by Cardinal O'Connor. During the mass, the cardinal expressed his great love for the young people and reiterated his challenge to them to participate actively in the ministry of evangelization.
